Alta Mons Inc

Alta Mons is the outdoor ministry of the Valley Ridge District of the United Methodist Church and located in Shawsville, VA. We are open year round, providing space for others to experience God through our outdoor ministry. We have summer camp and other programs throughout the year for children of all ages, as well as facilities available to rent for family reunions, retreats, or small group meetings. Alta Mons has several challenge courses and a pool available to rent as well. We are a place for people of all ages, nationalities, and backgrounds to come for a retreat with God. 

Thanks to many generous donors, Alta Mons is able to help offset the cost of camp for those parents and children that need financial assistance. Last year $15,500 was granted to campers who otherwise would not have been able to attend camp. Alta Mons strives to be a welcoming place apart.  We recognize the seriousness of current events.  It is our mission to provide an inclusive community in accordance with the teachings of Jesus Christ.  The Alta Mons experience is available to all and we act together to oppose racism and oppression in all forms.
