June Bug Center Give Local 2024

OUR MISSION: The June Bug Center for Arts and Education (JBC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing affordable music, performing arts, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) programs through afterschool classes, summer enrichment camps, and community theatre productions.
OUR HISTORY: The June Bug Center was established in 2001 to honor June McBroom, who was passionate about the arts and education in Floyd County. June McBroom recognized that children in the area lacked access to after school programs and opportunities due to financial constraints. The McBroom Foundation funded the launch of the June Bug Center. As of June 2018, the JBC has been sustained through funding from various sources including fundraising, performing arts events, after school programs, donors, grants, and local businesses.
The JBC focuses on providing affordable opportunities in music, performing arts, and STEAM afterschool programs Monday through Friday to the community. These programs include Floyd JAMS (Junior Appalachian Musicians), LEGO & Robotics Club, Blue Ridge Strings, Computer Camp, Acting Out, Musical Theatre for Teens, and Drama Society.
The programs cover a variety of interests such as old-time music, classical music, engineering, coding, theatre, dance, and musical theatre. Additionally, the JBC provides rental space to local artists who offer affordable year-round classes to the community, such as dance, Aikido, and yoga. The JBC hosts various events throughout the year and is the home of the Blue Ridge Story Space and the Floyd Community Theatre Guild (FCTG), which provides affordable performances for the community.
We are incredibly grateful for the chance to inspire and educate these young minds in subjects that ignite our passion. Our generous donors make it possible for us to provide enriching programs for the youth in the NRV, and every contribution is invaluable to us. The June Bug is a family of creative, intelligent, and compassionate individuals, and we take great pride in our June Bug community. Your support for our mission is truly appreciated!
