WHAT IS PCFS?

THE FREE STORE IS EXACTLY WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE

The Free Store is a place where individuals can share resources and reduce waste by giving away items they no longer need or want, while others can find useful items without having to pay for them. No matter how big or small, everything at PCFS is free and there is no means testing for shoppers - everyone is welcome! At PCFS, you'll be able to find a wide range of items including: food, personal care supplies, along with other goods found in thrift or second-hand stores. The Free Store is entirely volunteer run and we rely on donations and partnerships to keep our inventory stocked. All we do, we do for our community.

CARRYING ON THE TRADITIONS OF APPALACHIA

Here in Appalachia, our roots run deep and the Free Store is dedicated to preserving our time-honored practices of neighborly care and environmental protection that are so deeply entrenched in our region. By doing so, we ensure that future generations are able to thrive in communities that are strong and sustainable, with access to clean water for fishing and untainted land for agriculture and hunting. Fostering a strong sense of community and caring for one another enables us to help uplift our neighbors out of poverty and provide our children with compelling reasons to remain in the area when they come of age. Our commitment to reducing waste by keeping goods out of landfills and curbing the demand for new products helps to safeguard the well-being of wildlife and preserve crucial sources of sustenance. Together, we unite to safeguard our way of life for generations to come.
