We're preserving the legacy of Mary Draper Ingles—But Only With Your Help.

Located on the grounds of Glencoe Mansion, Museum and Gallery is the Mary Draper Ingles Cultural Heritage Park. This beautiful pocket park is home to the bronze statue of Mary Draper Ingles and contains interpretive panels telling the story of her life and incredible journey.

The park is also home to the New River Train Observatory, overlooking the historic train line that runs from Pulaski County through Radford. These two treasures are connected by a trail in the path of a century-old rail line that was discovered upon developing the park, bringing full circle the history of the site. And all this is set amidst a wonderful backdrop of native plant species.

The Park is a great location and truly a resource for visitors of all ages to enjoy time outdoors while learning about and experiencing local histories. Developments have been made through volunteer labor, community donations, and direct partnerships with local entities, including the Virginia Tech School of Architecture + Design, which designed and built the Train Observatory. Site development has also been the result of volunteer labor from children to seniors. There is still so much more we can do to make the site shine.

With your support you can help us to improve and enhance the park. Your donations will allow us to continue to bring native species to the site, as well as additional interpretive signage and even more seating to allow more people to stay and enjoy the park.

Only through your support can we make this happen. Please donate. And please visit the Glencoe Mansion site to see for yourself what treasures the museum and park are.
