Vittles for Vets

Vittles for Vets main purpose is to address hunger among veterans and their families struggling with financial hardship in southwest Virginia.  We issue weekly food gift cards from local super markets directly to qualified veterans to purchase groceries. The cards can be used on healthy food choices and are not allowed to be used to purchase alcohol, tobacco, or junk food. We currently serve approximately 100 veterans in the New River Valley and surrounding counties.

Vittles for Vets is a program that is completely organized and administered through the work of dedicated volunteers. Not one of our volunteers receives any compensation for their efforts. As such, we are able to run Vittles for Vets with very low overhead and administrative costs. This helps us live our mission to put as much of the money we raise through donors and fundraiser events into the hands of the struggling veterans whom we serve.

COVID 19 has severely compromised our ability to have in person fundraising events, the bulk of our fundraising efforts to date. In addition, the economic crisis has nearly doubled the number of veterans needing the help of our program. We need your help!
