This year, during GiveLocal, I invite you to donate to the Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley. The Center's mission is to foster enjoyment, appreciation, and understanding of all forms of art, promote art education, and support local artists. The Center’s dedication to the NRV art community truly shines through in the work being done.
I am personally setting a goal to raise $500 for the Fine Arts Center this giving season by Noon on Thursday, June 27.
I believe art is an essential part of community building and interpersonal connections and the Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley plays a crucial role in engaging the region with the arts. It’s inspiring to see an organization so committed to a mission I deeply value, and to witness their 45-year history of making this mission a reality.
The Center, open since 1978 and located at 21 West Main Street since 1982, holds the record for the longest single-organization run on Main Street in Pulaski!
When you support the Fine Arts Center financially, you are contributing to:
- Art education and instruction in various media for children, youth, and adults of all ages
- Empowerment of local artists in the NRV through exhibitions and musical performances
- Enriching community life by promoting involvement and excellence in the arts
... just to name a few!
The Fine Arts Center operates on generous contributions, grants, and memberships. Governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors, many of whom are community art or art education professionals, the Center relies heavily on volunteers and community donations. With just two paid staff members (myself as Programs Manager & Curator, and my colleague Brandon Phillips as Development Coordinator), every donation significantly impacts the Center’s ability to serve the community.
In a small but robust nonprofit art institution like ours, every measure of support makes a tremendous difference. Please consider donating, especially during our designated “Power-Hour” on June 26 from 5-6 pm.
Participating in our Power Hour helps the Fine Arts Center earn a Power Hour prize. The nonprofit with the largest number of contributors—not dollars—during the Power Hour wins! This means your gift could go even further. Even a $5 contribution puts us in the running for a bonus award. You can visit our website and sign up for a text or email reminder for the Power Hour.
